Pikachu

This yellow-cheeked Pikachu brought the gold E3 stamp to readers of Nintendo Power as an insert in its September 1999 issue. It shares its branding with the red-cheeked Pikachu handed out at Nintendo’s booth at E3 earlier that year, linking the magazine giveaway to Pokémon’s presence at the gaming expo. Its yellow cheeks also preserve the coloring of Mitsuhiro Arita’s original Japanese Base Set illustration.
